There are over 87 000 licensed lawyers in Florida. Less than 5000 Florida lawyers are Florida board certified. Only about 1,000 lawyers are Florida board certified in Civil Trial. Mr. Leeds has been Florida Board Certified in Civil Trial for over 20 years.
The Supreme Court of Florida can approve certain areas of law practice for Florida Bar Board certification. A lawyer who has more than 5 years experience practicing law and who wants further recognition for a particular area of law practice must apply for certification.
The lawyer must take and pass an additional exam and have demonstrated trial experience and competence in the presentation of cases before a jury.

Approval for and granting of certification occurs only after an applicant has passed an examination, continues with various forms of legal education, is quite involved in the field of law related to the certification he seeks, and satisfactorily passes a peer review assessment.
Only those Florida lawyers who are Florida Bar Board certified members may use the B.S.C. after their name or state that they are expert or specialist in Civil Trial.
